Regarding the ability to turn a creature/artifact in your hand into a 3/3, I think there are many cards that you should cast properly if you can produce 6 mana, but I think it's quite useful because you can fill the gap by making a 3/3 on the turn you play this, and you can just throw in a creature smaller than 3/3 in the first place
(He probably made four new decks since I started writing this article.) We tried to persuade him to use real card names for a while, but he ended up writing Glaivemaster for Auriok Steelshaper and Voltron for Auriok Glaivemaster, which was worse than whatever he was doing before
This color combination has problems with enchantments, but good (or should I say bad?) ole Bolas is there to deal with those
