Even though I've completed the game multiple times - including once fairly recently - nothing stood out to me that I could think of, unlike with other games on this list

While Ruby/Amethyst probably has the advantage realistically in that matchup, its not by a lot and a strong Sapphire/Steel player can certainly overcome Ruby/Amethysts tools either by gaining more cards in hand through superior draw support, or discarding that decks key cards via A Whole New World

As for non-character cards, Amethyst only has two: Casa Madrigal, a new inexpensive and sturdy location that grants a lore each turn if you have a character there
