A thick mist emanates off of Wildflower Lake as the morning sun begins to cast its colors onto this scene in Northern Illinois

I was looking for some subjects to photograph along the trail with the sun illuminating those subjects when I came upon this Kentucky coffee tree being backlit with an orange glow from the morning sun

The early morning sunlight brightens the florets of the common milkweed at Wildflower Park

The fog was going to be around for a few more hours so photographing any kind of sunrise was out of the question
